Chevrolet Camaro SS

Are you looking for a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS?

Q: what is a lot of miles for a 1998 to 2002 chevrolet z28 or ss camaro?
im willing to spend $10000 but im a first ttime buyer and i dont know what is a lot of miles

A: The LS1 runs very well even after 130,000+ miles. General rule of thumb to me has always been aprox. 12-15,000 miles per year. You will see 98-02 LS1 Z28s mileages vary as with most used cars on the market. You will find some 98s with 50-60,000 or around 80,000 and you will find 00-02s with about the same. I personally always try to find a lower mileage car if I plan to drive it as a cruiser, or a higher mileage car if I want to turn it into a drag car or project. Good Luck

Q: are they going to make convertible version of the Chevrolet Camaro?
Chevrolet Camaro or Chevrolet Camaro SS

A: Unforeseen circumstances had once sidelined the Camaro convertible and then put the project back on track for 2011. Well, General Motors spokesman Terry Rhadigan has been quoted as saying: “The convertible was never canceled. It was retimed. It will be the first quarter of 2011 for the start of production.”

The result is an extra year added to the vehicle’s l=original release date, now 2 years after the coupe’s debut. Just like the hard top, the convertible will be offered with both V6 and V8 engines.

Q: latest gen chevrolet camaro z28 vs SS?
I am going to purchase one of the 98-02 generation camaros and was curious what the difference between the z28 and SS. I know theres slight horse power and torque but what parts are different? for example is there a diff cam shaft, gears, that type of stuff.
as ive done research ive discovered that the 98-2000 z28 and ss has a slightly more agressive camshaft while the 2001-2002 has a less agressive cam but a ls6 intake. Also besides the the cosmetic difference the ss weighs slightly more but has stiffer suspension due to different sway bars. Thats all ive really found thus far but ill keep on looking.

A: For all intents and purposes, the ss and z28 are the exact same car. The ss was an optional appearance package added to a base z28. The only major differences were the hood, larger diameter wheels, and a different spoiler. As for performance, some ss’s I repeat SOME ss’s had the optional high flow exhaust, but in the end it only matters for a few ponies. The real difference is which car do you like the looks of better? Just remember, an ls1 is an ls1. Try looking on www.ls1tech.com for more info. But I gaurantee, that my z28 is exactly the same as a stock ss.

Q: Can I get some thoughts, comments and advice on buying this 1997 Camaro SS?
Im not a real expert with cars so all the help I can get is very helpful. Especially if it can help me talked down the price. I am a US Marine so and only a PFC so money is kind of tight but I can handle a loan. The asking price for car is $5000. Sellers Description:
Up for sale is my Son’s 1997 Chevrolet Camaro SS with 136K miles. My son is stationed elsewhere and I am selling this Camaro on his behalf. This Camaro is an SS model modified by SLP for Chevrolet from a Z28. It has the 5.7L 350CI / 300HP LT1 V8. THIS IS NOT THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY CAMARO SS WITH THE LS1. This is the original black paint, but does have flaws on the nose (paint peeled off) and the roof (paint is wearing off) and there is a small dent behind the drivers door. The interior is original, with the 30th Anniversary Logos on the headrests. There is usual wear and there are stains on the carpet, passenger side. Still has the original floor mats, though they have wear. CD head unit is original and works, but the buttons have wear and there are knobs missing. I have a Pioneer removable face CD player to go along with the car and may throw in a 12” Orion Sub w/box (no amp) if the price is right. Also will include the Haynes repair manual and a copy of the vehicle Carfax (can email if needed).

Asking $5000 or Best Reasonable Offer. This Camaro does have a lien against in through NFCU, therefore my son does not have the title. Email for more info, questions, comments or requests for pics or to see car. Serious buyers only, no joy rides and all transactions will take place locally through Credit Union.

I looked it up on KBB and got a value of a little over $5k
I am permanent personal and will not be deploying anytime soon. Thats why I am looking for a car.

A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here – carquotes.fateback.com

Q: How do I tell a 68′ Camaro RS/SS from any other Camaro just by looking at the body?
The VIN only tells that it was a Chevrolet Camaro with a V8 nothing else.

A: The SS is a performance option ( Bigger HP motor , 12 bolt rear) There is no way to tell between this and a normal coupe.as it was just an add on to a base coupe. The RS is an appearance package. On an RS car it should have hideaway headlights and the backup lights should be in the panel below the rear bumper- Without the RS package they are in the taillights.
1968 Vin and Trim tags offer no info to help you determine RS or SS options.

Q: What is the fastest car that you have ever ridden in? Driven in with a passenger? By yourself?
I was in the passenger seat of a Chevrolet Camaro SS before. There were no corners, but in terms of power, that thing was a rocket. As for driving, I was at a racing school at Willow Springs and was driving a highly-modified Toyota Celica, both with an instructor next to me and by myself. The car didn’t have much power, but it did corner very well.

A: Datsun Z 240

Q: Where can I buy an unrestored 1969 Chevrolet Camaro?
I want to restore an old Camaro and am wondering where I can find an unrestored one preferably a hardtop SS somewhere in the midwest.

A: Ebay motors. Check out my link. There are quite a few on there right now. It is a good time to buy with the economy down.

Q: I want to buy a Camaro but I can’t decide whether I should buy a 1970 or 1969? Which car is better looking?
I can’t decide whether I should buy a 1969 Chevy Camaro or a 1970. I am going to fix them up the same regardless. The problem is that I can buy the 1970 now, no problem because my neighbor has one that I can buy. But after I saw the 1969 I thought it was better looking and I felt like I should buy that one instead. But I don’t know where there is one for sale and I don’t want to risk my chances of not buying the ‘70 and waiting for a ‘69 to pass. I need help looking for a ‘69.

A: 1970 way better looking car.

Q: Which car is more likely to win a race if both started at 70 mph?
A 1994 Mazda RX-7 twin turbo or a 2002 Chevrolet Camaro SS V8?

A: who cares how old the rx7 is. bottom line is that car is worth more than your modern day american muscles because of what it can do. are you gonna say that a 69 cuda is gonna loose to your 02 camaro ss just cause it’s old?! omg that’s just retorical! btw i have a feeling that the rx7 is gonna win. because the rotary engine is just fantastically amazing. it’s compression rate is gonna be lower that the camaro so you know that it works faster and has an edge off the highly compressed camaro. but the major thing is….. the rotary engine doesnt loose as much engine power as the camaro. when the camaro’s engine has to go both ways, up and down. the rotary only goes one way, an eliptical motion. so i have money down on the rx7. also another issue is weight….. think about it.

Q: What do you think is the best car of each genre? Sedan, coupé, roadster, SUV, etc….?
The best ones on sale today i should add…

Coupé: BMW 650i

Roadster: Mazda MX-5

Station/Estate Wagon: Subaru Outback
Muscle Car: Chevrolet Camaro SS

Do you agree? What are yours?

A: Sedan Lexus LS
Coupé: Mercedes Benz SL 6.0L V12 Twin Turbo
SUV: Porsche Cayenne
Roadster: Nissan 370Z
Supercar: Bugatti Veyron
Station/Estate Wagon: Subaru WRX STI
Muscle Car: Dodge Challenger SRT-8

Q: What is the stock rear end gears?
What is the stock rear end gears on a 2001 Chevrolet Camaro SS?

A: Look at the option sticker, either in your owner manual packet, on the glove box lid, or under the hood. If it’s not in any of those places, you’ll need a second person, but put a chalk mark on the drive shaft horizontally, with a corresponding mark on the rear gear housing. Have your helper make a mark on the tire and fender molding, and turn the wheel slowly one revolution while you count the revolutions of the drive shaft. Estimate how far past the original mark the drive shaft goes in percentage. For example, if the driveshaft turns 4 1/2+a little, the ratio is 4.55 to 1.

Q: which car is more likely to win a race if both started at 70 mph?
A 1994 Mazda RX-7 twin turbo or a 2002 Chevrolet Camaro SS V8?

A: RX-7, hands down. Hate to say that since I am a Camaro man, but it’s true.

Q: 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Project?
I am looking for a ‘69 Camaro L78 or L89 RS/SS project to work on if anyone knows where i could find one it would be greatly appreciated.
I frequently try Ebay or Cars-on-line and hemmings.

A: Good luck.

You’re looking for one of the most Popular, Expensive, and increasingly Rare makes of Camaro and Muscle Car around.

They don’t go on the Chopping Block very often and when they do…. Originals can get VERY expensive.

If you’re looking for a project, it might be easier to just try to find any ‘69 Camaro Body and restore/upgrade it as you desire.

There are a few RS/SS Clones out there. So if you’re looking for an Original make sure to check the VIN.

There’s Craigslist (a long shot), but I think www.Autotrader.com might be your best bet if those other ones aren’t working out for you.

Good luck!

Q: Which 69 camaro SS would be a better car to fix it up to be a show car?
http://www.autotraderclassics.com/details?adId=95010844

http://www.racingjunk.com/category/1060/Chevrolet/post/1416589/69-Chevy-Camaro-Z-28-Project-Car-4000-Firm.html

A: I could not tell you with out running a magnet over the second body. It looks better, but there is no way the picture can tell me how much bondo is in the thing.
When you say show car, do you mean restoration or customized?
The only thing you are buying in the first one is a clean title with the SS. It will take a small fortune in sheet metal to get it good enough for show status.
If you want to customize, the second one might be better. If the tin is sound.
Before I bought either, I would think about just getting the sheet metal from Year One and putting it on a custom frame. That is provided the end goal was a customized car or dragster.
