This is an older Ford F-150 A 1998 V-8 (the small 8). I am going to change the plugs and can not find the spec for the plug gap.

A: 0.052 to 0.056 in or 1.3 to 1.4 mm

I have a 1994 ford f-150 that when you drive for about 20-25 minutes the lifters sound like they are knocking then the truck stalls. I have changed the ingnition module and the cap rotor ,spark plugs, fuel filter with out a change any help will be appreciated.

A: you might have internal engine damage sounds like a bent valve, or pushrod, how mamy miles? have you ever had t-belt changed or t-chain checked? they can stetch and break and jump timing and bend valves and pushrods, in any case if its knocking and stalling you should not drive it until you ge tit looked at, you most likley need engine rebuild.

Q: What is the best tonneau for a Ford F-150 supercrew 5.5′ bed?
I just got a new Ford F-150 supercrew truck that has a 5.5′ bed. I’ve seen some tonneaus on some trucks as I drive around, but I’m not sure the brand or what is popular or good? I live in Utah where it snows a lot in winter and is very sunny in the summer. Any pointers or advice would help… thanks in advance.

A: I highly recommend either of the 2 hard covers shown on page 6 of the Ford Accessories catalog.

The first one can be painted to match your truck & the second one is a very durable black composite material.

Q: Can i put the a 2004 ford f-150 4wd 6 inch lift kit on a 2004 ford expedition 4wd?
I wanted to put a 6 lift kit on a 2004 ford expedition 4wd but they only have an 8 inch lift. So i wanted to know if i could use the 2004 ford f-150 6 inch lift kit on the expedition. HELP

A: yes but it will need for mods done but nothing major. It should work

Q: How to make my Ford F-150 1995 louder?
It is a 1995 Ford F-150 XL. I decided i wanted to make my truck louder after i drove a Chevy and it was so sexy because it was so loud.

A: well aftermarket exhaust with muffler, they can be pretty loud and obnoxious(personal opinion). look at Borla, Flowmaster, and magna flows. prob. get a full system for around 500+, not only improves looks and sound, but performance too. ohhh btw if they make a cherrybomb for the F-150, one of the loudest glass packs on the market. got one for my 1978 Trans Am( i get pulled over all the time for “disturbing the peace”). the least is to say that there loud.

I am trying to replace the coil on my 2005 Ford F-150 4×4 super cab, 5.4 engine in order to save the cost of getting it replaced by a dealer

A: that engine has individual coils on each plug and they are located on top of the engine and go straight down next to the fuel rail most chain part stores should be able to scan your vehicle to find out which coil is bad might try new plugs first

Q: Is there a such thing as a 3/4 ton Ford F-150 and how much weight can a 3/4 truck pull?
Im looking to buy a 1992 Ford F-150 plow truck and the guy selling it said that it is a 3/4 ton F-150,which I have never heard of.I also want it to pull my skid-steer loader & trailer.

A: ok there is no such thing
f-150=1/2ton
f-250=3/4ton
f-350=1ton
f-450=1 1/2ton
and so on there is no 3/4ton f-150 but there is a 250
it may be a heavy duty but to pull the skid steer you will need a 250

A: Three different vehicles. Are you sure they all have cabin air filters? You need to ask a mechanic or the service department of a dealer for each of these vehicles about this. Good luck.

i have a 1996 for f-150 and i want to know how to make it easier on gas and yet i owuld also love more horsepower to it and i dont want to put much money into it? cna oyu tell me some things i can do and the price range?

A: a true dual exhuast would be the best starting point. probably around $400 if you can run without cats. a cold air intake. and if you have the obd 2 computer get a power programer or better yet a custom tune the factory program is horribly inefficient.

I have pretty good mechanical skills, but I don’t work on cars a lot. Serious help appreciated.

A: get the haynes or chilton manual for this is a fairly long explanation for the front due to the hubs. backs are easier.

I have a 2000 Ford F-150 with a 4.2 liter engine and manual transmission. The frame is twisted bad and beyond repair. I am looking to use the engine in another vehicle. What other vehicles will take this engine?

A: A 3.8L Mustang with some tweaks will take this engine.

The 3.8 and 4.2 are the same other than some bore and stroke differences.

I’m thinking of hunting down a 99-04 Mustang with a bad 3.8L to drop one into. The 4.2L in my 2003 F150 has been super.

No lift, but has off-road package (skid plates, fog lights, 32s) The ranger fx4 says 24 inch fording capability, while a jeep wrangler is rated at 19 inches. But what about the F-150???

A: The ignition relay (solenoid) is located on the passenger side fender apron (follow positve battery cable to it). Are you having a no start problem? Does it crank but won’t fire?

My son has a 1967 Ford F 150 and needs to replace the clutch, he has the parts but needs to find instructions. he thinks he can do it but has never worked on a truck that old before.

A: Get a Chilton’s for this model.
Some times you can find them in the library. Duplicate the pages you need. This should include the torque specs.
NAPA deals in these manual and many parts stores either have them in stock, or can get them in days.
