Q: Is it OK to supercharge a 2005 Ford Mustang GT WITHOUT an intercooler?
I am considering buying a used 2005 Ford Mustang stock GT and supercharging it. The best supercharger for the Mustang GT appears to be a Whipple twin Screw type that produces about 6 psi of boost, and as a result improves HP at the rear wheels to about 405, which is is pretty dramatic. However, this Whipple setup does NOT come with an intercooler. My question is, is it “safe” to bolt on this much power without an intercooler??? Thanks for your answers.

A: yes it is safe to do so, but i would not recommend that. i would rather pay a little more for a kit with an intercooler.

always keep in mind that increased temps under the hood can kill your engine and rob some horses. i had a procharger with an UPGRADED intercooler and it was keeping temps under the stock conditions and making 530 horses on the tires.
there are also intercooled Whipple setups on the market, but the price for those would be a little higher than non intercooled. but it’s worth of paying for an intercooled kit.

however, if you have a stock engine and getting a non intercooled kit, be sure you stay around 5-6 psi and not more than 420rwhp. You also might want to use methanol injection to cool the engine down and add horses.

hope that helps

Q: What is the maximum rim diameter that I can put on a Ford Mustang GT?
I drive a 2009 Ford Mustang GT. I’m looking to get rims for it. However, I know nothing about rims, no idea where I would even procure them, let alone how big I can go. Anyone shed some light on this for me?

A: Well, i would suggest going to a place that sells rims, like where i live there are places like les schwab, discount tire, big o tires, and ask them, but I would assume about a 20″. Largest i would go would be a 17-18″. I’m gonna be putting some rims on a car within a year, and i’m going to put about a 16-18″ rim on. Suggestion on the rim width: go slightly wider on the width (rear only), to get a little better traction, if you plan to mod it. Personally, the mustangs i’ve seen where i live generally seem to go about a 18″ rim. personally i think they look good.

Why wont my door lock actuators work in my 1989 Ford Mustang GT? I cant find a listing for a fuse, all fuses are good, no listing for a relay and switch works. I bench tested both actuators and both work well. Any idea would be greatly appreciated.

A: Their has to be a relay somewhere in order for them to work Try looking under the hood

Q: Should I buy a 2009 Ford Mustang GT hardtop or convertible?
I have decided to buy a 2009 Ford Mustang GT and cannot decide if I want a hardtop or convertible. Any suggestions?

A: Go with the hardtop. Convertibles are nice when the weather is good but if it’s cold, really hot or rainy they are no fun. I loved my convertible for about 6 months after that it got old in a hurry.

Q: Does anyone know, when were lines first placed on the Ford Mustang GT?
Does anyone know, when were lines first placed on the Ford Mustang GT and what are the classic design of the lines?

See my husband and I are ina controversy. We have a Mustang GT 2006. He wishes to place the 2 wide lines on the car, because he says that this is the classical design for a Mustang GT. I on the other hand prefer no lines, but if he is going to put lines on the mustang I prefer that hey be the one that is 1 wide line in the middle and 2 thin lines on each side of the wide line. He (my husband) says that this is not part of the classical design.

Can anyone please shed some light on this matter?

A: Your right for the side of the GT, he’s thinking of the Shelby’s 65-68 over the roof

Q: My Ford Mustang GT is at 2000 RPM when Idling HELP?
I have a 2002 Ford Mustang GT manual. And The check engine light came on a few days ago. Ever since then, when my car is in neutral (say at a traffic light) it stays at 2,000RPM (the 2) instead of 500RPM (between 0 and 1) I hope this is sounding right. And I wanted to know what the problem is.

A: Def the IAC, either that or your TPS. I just ordered both for my car cas i got the same problem.

Q: what is the top speed of a 2002 Ford Mustang GT 5 speed bone stock?
I have a 2002 Ford Mustang GT 5 speed stock just X pipe , Flow Master A merican thunder cat back sistem and today i had the chance to give it a good run on the Interstate highway and it went all the way to 150 mph very easy and surprisingly fast. i have to let it go due to trafic coming up but it was still pulling.

A: Your Mustang was rapidly approaching max speed which would be limited by the drag created by air flowing over the car. Drag builds up faster with each mile over 120 mph. That is why at 120 it might feel like it has lot more punch but at 150 if you punch it the sensation will be noticeably less. The Nascar boys all know this, that is why they have spoilers and the bodies are almost touching the ground.

That might be thrilling but if anything goes wrong at that speed without a roll cage you are going to be hamburger.

Are your tires rated for that speed?
Check the side walls for rating.

Do your tires have any checking on the sidewalls?
Have you had a flat repaired?
Do you have the correct tire pressure?

If one of those tires lets go at 150+ your gorgeous Mustang is going to flip, flop and roll over about a dozen times. They will have to scrape your mangled body from the car with a spoon. I know because it happened to a friend of mine.

I certainly hope you choose wide open roads with no other cars nearby to endanger when you do your high speed blasts.

Be careful out there I don’t want to read about you in the news.

Q: Replacing leather backseat in a Ford Mustang GT?
I loaned my car to my younger brother to take on a road trip………BIG MISTAKE HUH?……….and he and his friends somehow managed to burn 3 places in the black leather on the back seat. I have no clue if it can be fixed or if I should have the entire seat recovered. Also, I’m not the biggest fan of leather now that I own a car with leather seats….hot in summer, cold in winter….any ideas on the pricing of replacing all the seats w/factory issued factory.

I don’t want to do anything to take away from the value as it is a Rousch Edition newer edition Ford Mustang GT 4.7 liter, V-8.

A: Check out www.stangparts.com

They sell used Mustang parts at a good price. You can just yank out the whole backseat and install a new one. I’m sure it will be cheaper than having the old one reupholstered.

Q: How to adjust the throttle cable on a 1998 Ford Mustang GT?
I just put on a poweraid throttle spacer on my 98 Mustang GT & now there is way to much play in the throttle cable. The pedal is way too close to the floorboard. I have both the Haynes and Chilton manuals and neither show how to adjust it. Does anyone know how to adjust the cable to get rid of extra slack? Thanks for your help.

A: take it to a mechanic.
