Q: How can i reset a service engine light on a 2001 ford mustang?
how can i reset the “service engine soon” light on a 2001 Ford Mustang…. and is there a place that i can take it to where they can tell me why the light came on?
A: You can turn the lite out by removing the negative battery cable for about 5 minutes, Autozone I think does it for free did the lite come on not to long after you got gas? check and make sure your gas cap is on and tight, also make sure the teather that secures the gas cap to the car is not stuck under the cap
Q: what are the cons to buying a ford mustang?
so i really want to buy a mustang, but my mom says that ford company isnt that good at making the car strong and itll break down alot on the road and stuff. so i just want to know alllll the cons to buying a ford mustang. also, a 6 cylinder and auto, not stickshift.
A: The main problem I would have is that, like MOST smaller cars, they are NOT easy to work on due to lack of room under the hood. (I tend to do my own repairs when needed.)
They are just as good as most american cars, but are NOT designed for other than paved roads.
IF you learn to drive “easily”, (without rabbit starts and hard braking stops), the mileage can be pretty good, especially on the 6.
CERTAIN model years were NOT known for reliability, mostly in the “high power” models.
IF it is a used vehicle, have a mechanic check it over before buying it for any problems.
Q: How hard is it to put a fuel pressure gauge on a stock 1989 ford mustang gt?
just bought the 89 ford mustang and i am planning to make some modifications to make it a street/strip car. I have heard that when racing your car at a drag strip it is a must to have a fuel pressure gauge so then when ur pressure drops you notice and get out of it. So, how hard is it to put a fuel pressure gauge on. Also i am an unskilled person with a will to learn so should i do this myself or take it in?
A: Fuel pressure guage is important when you have a boosted car. In a stock mustang its not really necessary. They sell some guages that connect to the fuel rail but obviously u cannot read that inside the car. For in car just buy an electronic autometer guage and follow the instructions to install. But u really dont need it (unless u have a turbo or supercharger)
Q: what would cause an odometer to stop working on a 95 ford mustang v6?
what would cause an odometer to stop working on a 95 ford mustang v6? some people say it is the actual gauges in the dash stopped working because they are electronic….but how can that be true if the speedo and tach are still working?
A: Not working…meaning no display (electronic display?) or meaning no movement? If it’s electronic display, then it’s the guage. They are seperated so that all the guages don’t go if one does. If it’s a regular analog guage, then you may have a busted gear in the odom. Depends. Most mechanical odoms are driven off the same gearing as the speedo…they get their movement from the same place. So, depending on the type (mechanical analog or electric digital) of display you have, those are some choices.
Q: What is the cheapest supercharger for a 2005 ford mustang v6?
I have a 2005 Ford Mustang v6 and was wondering if there was a supercharger for around $2000
A: NO2 is the closest…
Q: How to flush the transmission on a 2004 Ford Mustang?
I have a 2004 Ford Mustang, 3.8L V6, 5 speed manual. I need to flush the transmission, and the shop wants a lot of money to do it. does anyone know of a site that has step by step instructions on how to do this?
A: Remove the drain plug and drain it.
Easiest way to fill is with a hose attached to a funnel that you run down the back of the engine bay. Holds 5.60 pints of fluid (Mercon V)

Q: Whats the average cost to replace the harmonic balancer on a 1999 Ford Mustang?
I know the risk of driving with a defective harmonic balancer, but I would like to get it fixed as soon as possible. Its a 1999 Ford Mustang Base Automatic with a 3.8 liter V6. Whats the average cost to get the harmonic balancer replaced on it?
A: Pretty rare that they ever go bad.. but if your sure.
It will probably take up to 3-4 hrs to do,, so times 3-4 hrs by the shop or mechanics hourly..
Part is anywhere from 40.00 -90.00$
Q: How do you repair a hole in the manifold of a 2002 Ford Mustang?
I have a 2002 Ford Mustang, and i was told theres a hole in my manifold, and i was wondering if i could fix this myself?
Also i need to know how to take off my catalatic converters (yes i know its illegal)
A: they used to make a gas tank epoxy, if you can find it..
Q: How much can i buy a 1978 Ford Mustang or any muscle cars in working but a beat up condition?
I’m looking for a 1978 Ford Mustang with a working engine… but in an okay condition because i would like to fix it up myself… my maximum budget is $2000 – preferably $1,500 if not a Mustang any Muscle Cars that look similar. I just really need to know an average price and that would help a lot, thanks.
A: 1978 Mustang was hardly a muscle car. Rebadged, reshaped pintos. They did have an anemic 305 option, but it was so choked down by smog equipment that it barely got out of its own way
Q: How do I maximize gas mileage in my 2005 Ford mustang?
I have a V6 five speed and I just got some new tires. I would like to maximize the mileage I get out of it. Also, is there anything I should be mindful of when taking care of my Mustang? This is my first Ford, so I’m not sure what to be careful of. Thanks.
A: There are few thing you can do to save (or maximize) gas MPG. First get a tune-up.
(1) spark plugs
(2) spark plug wires
(3) distributors, coil, rotors (if you have them).
(4) new air filter
(5) PCV
(6) correct tire pressure
(7) clear the trunk of useless heavy items
(8) spray clean MAF sensor.

Forget all those “SAVE GAS” scams. This was on NBC morning TV show. The difference is as much as 38% (their claim). There are very simple rules to save gas:
(1) drive slow – not too much past 55
(2) accelerate slowly
(3) don’t brake unnecessarily
(4) use cruise control – whenever it is safe to do so.
Don’t coast – it is NOT safe (to coast in Nuetral) and it does NOT save gas. It only saves gas, if you are planning to slow down (exiting, tolls, traffic). Coasting then accelerating again is LESS efficient than just cruising.
The above really works. Using those simple rules I was able to drive from Boston to NYC (210.5 miles) on just 5.112 gallon (94 Civic). That’s 41 MPG (94 Civic 187K miles). Actually I was speeding at 72 MPH so I could do even better at 55.
WOW !!
Good Luck…
Q: How much would it cost to replace radiator tank on an 06 Ford Mustang at a radiator shop?
I need to replace the radiator tank on my 06 Ford Mustang V6 after running into some ice, How much would it run me if i took the radiator out and took it to a shop and asked them to just replace the radiator tank? Thanks… -Nick
A: more than likely you have a plastic tank on that and if you do you might as well just go buy a new radiator.
Q: How do I remove the radio in a 2002 Ford Mustang GT?
How do I remove the original stereo unit in a 2002 Ford Mustang GT? What information can you tell me about replacing it? Thanks!
A: you have to pop the surrounding tirm off, then remove the screws and it comes right out. don’t freak out just grab it around the radio and pull out. now if it has the mach sound system you might have to use the tool they come two to a pack and you can get them at wal mart or parts house, but you will know if you need it before you pull the trim off b/c there will two holes right on top of each other on both sides of the radio, and you can change the radio out with no problem, but if it is mach there is an amp for every speaker, so you can’t put new speakers without ripping all that out. hope this helps.
Q: How do I make engine modifications to a 2005 Ford Mustang GT?
I am writing a novel called “Geared” about drift racing and included a scene at an auto shop with the mechanic changing a car engine for a Ford Mustang GT 2005 model but how does a mechanic actually do this for this specific car. I looked up how to change a car engine on Wikihow and used that information for the scene but wasn’t sure if different car engines require specific different techniques.
A: you could buy a cold air intake and just install it.
here’s a site where you can buy them: http://www.americanmuscle.com/05-07-mustang-air-intakes.html
If you don’t want to spend that much money then you could just buy some styling mods to install, they won’t do anything, but they make the engine look nice.
Also if you really want to go all out you could install a supercharger: http://www.americanmuscle.com/mustang-superchargers.html
Q: Why are my headlight wire overheating at the switch on my 1989 Ford Mustang GT?
Why are my headlight wire overheating at the switch on my 1989 Ford Mustang GT? I had to replace the old head light switch wiring harness, but copied all wires correctly. However now, when I turn on the headlights, the lead wire for the park lights and the lead wire for the head lights heat up so much they begin to smoke if I don’t turn them off. Any Ideas?
A: Overheating wire means a short. You need to have the skills and tools to try to isolate which positive wire is shorting out. More than likely, the short will be between your wiring harness through the firewall and out to the headlamps.
Q: Can a 1986 ford mustang still pass inspection in New Hampshire?
Can a 1986 ford mustang still pass inspection in New Hampshire, and can it ass the emissions test.
A: the 86 Mustang was the first one with a computer, except for the SVO, and should run pretty clean…can someone give you a pre-test to find out why? You probably need a new cat…that will clean it up..
