A: 2003 Ford Taurus’ have 6 x 8″ in the front door and in the rear. Surprisingly, there are a lot of options for this uncommon speaker size if you choose to replace them.

In answer to the reply I got about having the ford taurus for 5 years, and feel lucky it ran that long . I have had the car since it was new 13 years ago. This is the only major problem out of warranty that I have encountered with it. I neglected to say that when it stalls out, there is a strong gas smell from under the hood.

A: it sounds like the fuel lines are starting to collapse. they are made of plastic and with the heat they become fragile. now add the age of the car. that would cause it to stall. i would suggest that you inspect the fuel lines for wear and tear. if you do not feel safe inspecting your car, take it to a mechanic( it does not have to be one from a dealer) who can inspect and fix the problem.(ase certified preferred)

Q: What muffler should I put on a Ford Taurus?
I have a 2000 Ford Taurus V6. I want to put a muffler on it to make it loud and aggressive sounding. What muffler should I put on there without breaking the bank? I am open from mufflers like ones you would put on a mustang or ones you would put on a ricer.

id say magnaflow, borla, or flowmaster are the best get one of those to make it sound good. you get what you pay for so dont be cheap about it or youll pay more in the long run.

Q: How do you remove the small ford grill on a 1998 Ford Taurus?
I want to remove the small ford-logo grill on my taurus but I’m not sure how to do it. Any thoughts?

A: it could have clips/pull pins or screws or a mixture of both. open the hood and look at the top of the grill (between the lights) and you should be able to tell

A: It’s going to sound like ass no matter what muffler you chose. It’s a family car, not a sport/muscle car. Don’t waste your money.

Q: Can i swap out a manual headlights control in a 1997 ford taurus gl to an autolamp control?
I have a 1997 ford taurus gl that has the manual headlight control (when you have to turn the lights on manually) and i noticed some models have autolamp. Is there a possibility you can swap out a manual headlight control to an autolamp one? If you can does it require extra wiring? Thanks for your answers.

A: It would require a dash harness, as there is a light sensor involved in the circuit as well. But there are Ford kits, as well as aftermarket kits, to do this much more easily and cheaply.
The Ford kit takes about 20 minutes to install, and works well.

Q: How to fix a deflating tire on a ford taurus 2002?
Hi our tire keeps deflating on our car. So we keep refilling it. The mechanic informed us there isn’t a tube on the inside. So how are we supposed to fix it? He said something like he could tighten the bolts. Any ideas here? The tire is official ford taurus 2002 tire, which i’m referring to.

A: I’ve been a Mechanic for over 20 years

You have 2 choices, you can either take the car down to your local tire shop and have them check it out and fix it on the cheap, or you can go buy a can of Fix a Flat at autozone or your local store.

It’s a simple fix for a professional, your mechanic is obviously not a professional.

Q: How well do the back seats in a ford taurus wagon fold down? Could I sleep in it?
I am going on a coast to coast drive, while I will typically stay in a campground or hotel I want the option to pull over into a truck stopp or 24 hr walmart and catch a short night of sleep. I am wondering if the seats in the ford taurus wagon fold flat enough to sleep in the back with a sleeping bag? Any ideas on the dimensions length wise? Thanks!

A: Yes, they fold flat down to the seat,you will have enough room to stretch your leg out . My wife, son & I take a trip a few years ago in our old ford wagon ,they both got in the rear of the wagon and slept a few hours before we got home ,they had plenty of room to rest. By having the wagon save use some money as well.

I have a 1997 ford taurus and my driver’s door used to unlock if i left the key in the ignition and i locked the doors. My dad was working on my car and was messing with the fuse box. A: Its very possible If he moved them around one may be bad , ask him if he moved them in any way , Also check the wiring going to the fuse box he may have pulled a wire out, I have see that before at the plant, hope this helps.

Q: How to put more than one disc in 05 Ford Taurus car cd player?
On my car, it says “Tune” and then under it, it says “Disc 1-6″. I assume that means that you can have 6 cds in the player at once. I just don’t know how to do that. I have a 2005 Ford Taurus SE.

A: That car comes with an optional 6 disc changer in the trunk. If your car doesn’t have the changer then that button will not do anything.

A: It’s a 98 and the trans fluid’s never been flushed? No wonder you have problems. A flush might help you if you haven’t caused too much damage. A new one should be 1500-2000 dollars.

A: The rear bumper has many parts- make sure you get a quote on all damaged parts. There are brackets, the bumper proper and the bumper cover, at the very least.

A: Both posts stating or implying the Taurus is a rear-wheel-drive are incorrect. Don’t know what year Taurus or Windstar you are referring to, but I know the Windstars from model years 1995 to 2000, used the AX4S transaxle. Model years 2001 to 2003 Windstars used the AX4N. Tauruses however used BOTH from 1996 to current. It may BOLT in. Whether or not, there are internal differences, I don’t know, or at the VERY least, I’m not sure. You are better off searching for a unit that came from an identical model year and vehicle if you’re not sure.
